MELANIE DALLAS, PRESIDENT

Melanie Dallas resides outside of Jasper, GA on a 40-acre farm with her husband Don, two children, seven horses, seven dogs, and three cats. Melanie is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor in Georgia. She has worked in North Georgia since 1988 providing and directing counseling services for challenged and underserved children and their families. She received the Georgia Association of Homes and Services for Children Outstanding Administrator Award in 2007 and the Turner Broadcasting System's Supercitizen Award in 1993.

 

DIANE MARGER MOORE,

Diane Marger Moore resides in Jasper, GA with her husband and children. She earned her J.D. degree from the University of Georgia Law School in 1978. She is a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia.

 

LORRIE SHAW, TREASURER

Lorrie Shaw is a life-long resident of Jasper, GA. She obtained her associates degree from Reinhardt College and then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia School of Banking. She is employed with Crescent Bank & Trust as the Pickens County President., and she has been with the bank since its inception in 1989. She is married to Scott Shaw and has two children, Colby and Jordan. Lorrie states that the well-being and needs of the children in this community continue to be a priority for her.

 

SHERYL MURRAY, SECRETARY

Sheryl Murray is originally from Texas where she attended Texas A&I University. After being widowed in 2004, Sheryl moved to Jasper, GA where she now resides with her husband, Tim Murray. She has a vast array of experience working with the Texas MHMR and the TN Dept. of Human Services. She has five adult children and four grandchildren. Sheryl is very active with her church, Holy Family Episcopal in Jasper. Sheryl's passion for those who need extra understanding, compassion, guidance, and direction brings her to ACES.

 

JENNIFER ROSENFIELD

Jennifer Rosenfeld was raised in West Hartford, CT. She and her husband, Joel Rosenfeld, currently reside in Atlanta, GA with their two daughters, Nora and Emily. Jennifer graduated from Emory University in 1990. She has over 12 years experience in software and consulting services as a Senior Software Engineer and Product Manager for New Energy Associates LLC and Siemens Company.

 

JOEL A. ROSENFELD, M.D.

Joel Rosenfeld was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. He attended Georgia Tech on an athletic scholarship and graduated with highest honors in Health Systems Engineering. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia. Since 1993, Joel has worked as an Urologist in Jasper at Piedmont Hospital. Joel is married to Jennifer, and they have two precious daughters, Nora and Emily. Both Joel and Jennifer have been involved in other shelters, and are convinced that there is a dire need for this facility. Joel and Jennifer are committed not just to the completion of the facility, but also to its successful operation.

 

LARRY BUTLER

Larry Butler was born in 1947 in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from North Georgia College in 1969, and then went on to graduate from Emory University School of Law in 1975. He served as an artillery officer and battery commander in the Army for three years. As an attorney, children have always been a focus in Larry's practice. Larry is a firefighter in the Hinton Volunteer Fire Department (Station 6) and a member of the Jasper Rotary Club. Larry and his wife, Pam, own and manage the Seventy-Four Ranch, an American Quarter Horse and Corriente cattle breeding and training operation and guest ranch in Pickens County. As President of the ACES Board, Larry is steadfastly committed to creating and maintaining a haven for children most in need of loving and tender care.

 
 

MICKEY DUNN

Mickey Dunn resides in Jasper, GA. He is the president of ML Industries, Inc. He served ten years on the Burnt Mountain Center Board for the mentally challenged. He is currently the vice chairman of the advisory board for the Southern Poly Technical State University for the apparel and textiles departments.

 

MARY GHORLEY

Mary Ghorley resides in Jasper with her husband, Tim and daughter, Chelsea.  She has worked in the Healthcare Industry for 28 years and is employed at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital as the Manager of Risk and Insurance Services.  She has previously served on the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

 

REVEREND MARY JOHNSON

The Reverend Mary Johnson is the rector of  The Episcopal Church of the Holy Family in Jasper, GA.  She studied philosophy (BA) and linguistics (MA) at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and received her divinity degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary (MDiv) and the General Theological Seminary (STM). In her twenty years of ordained ministry, she has served as college and hospital chaplain, assistant priest, Associate for Christian Nurture, and organizing priest for a new mission. She and her husband, Wayne, are parents of five children now in their teens and twenties. To unwind, she reads novels, cooks and bakes, gardens, or pulls out her violin.


 

JACQUELYN JACOBS

Jacque earned M. Ed Degree in Behavior and Learning Disorders and a B.S. in Psychology from Georgia State University and is currently pursuing her PhD in Psychology from Northcentral University, Arizona. In addition, she has an M.Ed in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia and Advanced Level Trauma Consultant Supervisor from the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children, Gross Pointe Woods, and Michigan. In 2005, Jacque founded Collaborations for Resiliency in Children, a 501(c)(3) non- profit organization benefiting children from infant to age 18. Jacque is the author of Classroom Guidelines and Strategies for Managing Severe Emotional and Behavioral Disordered Students. She has been instrumental in establishing collaborative protocols between school systems, juvenile courts, the department of juvenile justice and other community agencies. Currently, Jacque  resides in Big Canoe, Georgia with her husband, David Jacobs.

 

BYRON TINDALL

The Rev. Byron Tindall and his wife, Anne, live in the Lake Arrowhead subdivision just outside Waleska, Ga. A retired Episcopal Priest, he spent all his adult life in the newspaper and printing industry in addition to his duties as an ordained minister. Prior to moving to Cherokee County, the Tindalls lived in Virginia, Upstate New York, and South Carolina, where they were both volunteer Guardian-Ad-Litems in the Family Court system. They have three children,seven grandchildrenand two great-grandchildren.

 

 

CHARLIE WRIGHT

Charlie Wright was born and raised in Thomasville, GA. He attended Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern University. He also completed the Surgical Technology program at Thomas Technical College. He was the Director for the American Institute of Plant Engineers (AIPE). He and his wife moved to Jasper, GA in 2002, when he was appointed the Director of Transportation for Pickens County Schools. He is also involved in real estate investments. He is now a member of Jasper Methodist Church and the Rotary Club of Jasper.
